Nylah, one of our under 13 athletes, made time during her visit to see family in Uganda to keep up with her training. Nylah was visiting Gulu City, home to the Pece Stadium. There is an interesting family connection to the venue as Nylah’s great grandfather – Chief Petero Lumoro MBE, opened the stadium in 1960. It commemorates the Ugandan forces who fought alongside the British in WW2.
Coaching her on the day and also pictured is her uncle Tonny Onono, a top marathon runner in Uganda. Well timed, with the first Lower YDL match less than a week away.
