Congratulations to all Harriers who took part in yesterday’s London Marathon! We are always proud to see the club colours in the crowds and this year is no different!
First we have to celebrate an unbelievable club record by Nicole Firth! Nicole was competing in her debut marathon, but has impressed over very distances on the roads in the past few years. She finished 45th female in 2:48.07! This meant she knocked 1minutes 43seconds off the previous record set in 2017!

Stewart Merry led the Harriers home and took over 2 and a half minutes off his personal best, running an impressive 2:29.14 – joining a very small handful of Harriers to have ever broken the 2:30 barrier.
Ashley Stevens ran well to finish in 3:18.53 and Kev Goodwill finished in 3:24.41 just two weeks after he set a PB of 3:09.24 at Newport Marathon.
Steve Tatlow had an injury-stricken build up but still produced a strong run to finish in 3:42 and club coach Jo Wilkinson, who supported many of the athletes in their London efforts, led by example and finished in 3:50.03.
One of the most impressive performances of the day however was most definitely Martin Ford competing in the M80+ category. Martin finished 2nd in his age group running 4:57.39 – a time many people a fraction of his age could only dream of doing!!
