Our senior distance team made a strong start to the Midland Women’s and Birmingham Cross Country League over the weekend. The women, competing in division 1, finished 12th team and 6th masters team led home by Nicole Frith in 15th place.
Next female in was Jane Fairbairn in 75th. Jane was just warming up though as the following day she competed in Broadway Marathon finishing 4th female! Petra Vymetalova and Rachel See completed the A team in 79th and 84th. The B team consisted of Hannah Miles in 125th, Kate Alhadeff in 137th, Jo Wilkie in 142nd and Lucy Goode in 158th.
Meanwhile the men also ran well finishing 5th A team and 3rd B team in division 2 of their respective league. They were led in by a brilliant run from Jamie Bell to finish in 17th. The rest of the A team finished close behind with Finlay Willicott in 37th, Harrison Miles in 42nd, Joseph Smith 54th, Heath Bampton 58th and Cameron White in 62nd. The team score was helped by strong runs from the rest of our team members, pushing back the positions of other teams and therefore driving up the score of rival clubs. Martin Foster (65th), George Sheppard (68th), Peter Digweed (96th) and Andy Gore (99th) all made the top 100. Andrew Kaighin, Matt Evans, Liam Kearns, Tom Munro and Michael Ede completed the team in 109th, 139th, 159th, 172nd and 223rd respectively.
