This weekend one of the biggest events of the season took place – English Schools Championships.
Our athletes impressed coming home with two golds and a bronze medal! Congratulations to Lucy Bull, Charlie Mason and Caleb Green.
Lucy got the weekend off to a dream start winning one of the first events of the competition, Inter Girls Javelin, breaking the Championships record in the process. Lucy’s best throw of 52.25 was almost 8 metres clear of 2nd place. Lucy will be competing in the European U18 championships for Great Britain later this season.
Charlie Mason was our second Gold medalist winning the Senior Boys Javelin. His best throw of 63.73 secured him the title on the same day he was announced as part of the Great Britain team for the World U20 championships. Also a special shout out to Carolyn Franks who coaches both these athletes!
Caleb Green impressed in the Inter Boys 110m hurdles. The multi-eventer was just competing in one event this weekend but secured a final place with 14.25 and 2nd in his heat. He had to wait till the following day for the final, but pulled a PB out the bag of 14.00 to win himself bronze.
Also a very important mention for Rosie Atkins who ran 2:12.19 in the Inter Girls 800m heat, despite just missing out on a place in the final Rosie’s time betters the club U20 record by over a second, don’t forget Rosie is still only an U16!!
Congratulations to all the Harriers who were selected to compete for their counties at the Championships – just being selected is a big achievement!
