Sunday 1st June was a big day for the club with the U13/U15 team taking a big win at the second Lower YDL fixture of the year and another 3 club records falling along the way! Their final score placed them 70 points clear of 2nd place!
Hugo Bucher further increased the club U15 Javelin record with a huge throw of 64.33!! In fact Hugo’s first throw surprised the officials so much they thought it was a foul. His performance takes him 9 metres clear at the top of the UK rankings and places him 5th in the UK all time list! Not only was the throw a club record it also has beaten the YDL record of 61.40 set in 2016!

The second record came from the U15 girls 4x100m team of Verity Gaskin, Naomi Lawal, Bonnie Shirlaw and Alicia Taylor whose time of 50.86 knocks 0.24 off the previous record and moves them into 10th in the UK rankings.
Our U13 boys 4×100 relay team was so quick we initially missed that they’d also broken a record! Dylan, Alistair, Rupert and Carter’s time of 53.52 places them 6th in the UK rankings and lowered the previous record of 53.79 set back in 2019!
These boys are still learning the event and are sure to get quicker as the season goes on! Well done to them all!

Field eventers
As well as Hugo’s success, there were other club javelin stars: Theo Nock won the U15 boys B event with a throw of 49.49. To put the two boys performance into perspective all remaining competitors from the A and B event threw below 30metres. In the U13 boys javelin there was another Harrier win with Joseph Sheppee adding almost 6 metres to his PB with a best of 35.45, flying up to 6th in the UK rankings
Zephie Turbard won both the U15 girls A Discus and Hammer with bests of 30.06 and 30.56 respectively. The latter being a new PB moving her up to 32nd in the UK – not forgetting her discus best has her placed 8th currently!
