The club is extremely saddened to learn of the passing of official and local legend John Pickles. John’s list of roles in athletics are many and range from the grass roots (which he never steered away from and took on with the perfect level of professionalism) to officiating at the very top at the Olympic Games. John’s link to the club is most prevalent through his link to Malcolm Brewer and his unstinting commitment to officiating at the Brewer Memorial Games from its inception up until 2024, after which his health sadly started to decline.
