Over the weekend the club hosted round two of the Midland Women’s and Birmingham Cross Country League. Bad weather all week led to muddy conditions and a rather daunting river crossing. Nicole Frith led the women’s team home to 9th place with a superb 11th place finish. Jane Fairbairn finished as 10th masters athlete in 40th overall. Completing the A team was Petra Vymetalova in 52nd and Rachel See in 53rd. Ellie Balfe was close behind in 55th and completed the masters team that finished in 2nd place. There was a brilliant team atmosphere on the day with strong runs from Hannah Miles in 83rd, Kate Alhadeff in 84th, Sarah Thomson in 90th, Lucy Goode in 100th and Sophie Bestwick, making her cross country debut, in 109th.
The men’s team achieved another 5th place finish and had brilliant depth to the team with the B team finishing 3rd B team. The Masters team ran well to finish 4th A team and 8th B team. Stewart merry led the team home in 22nd place with Harrison Miles and Finlay Willicott next across the line in 32nd and 36th. Jack Birks, 47th, George Sheppard, 56th and Al Raitt, 64th, completed the scoring A team.
In total 18 men ran for the team, all vital in helping the teams success! Full results below:
