Gloucestershire Cross Country League 2025/26

Rachel See March 6, 2026

A few weeks ago the final fixture in the 2025/26 Gloucestershire Cross Country League took place with Harriers taking home 21 medals in total for the season – 3 individual and 3 team golds, 6 individual and 3 team silvers and 6 individual bronzes.

Freddie Miles and Fraser Elliott led a Harriers 1-2 in the U11 boys race. Both athletes competed superbly through the season with Freddie finishing 1st in two races and 2nd in the third and Fraser taking two 2nd places and one 3rd. Jess Bailey and Theo Litman made it double bronzes in the U13 girls and boys competitions. Jess finished with a score of just 8 with two 3rd places and one 2nd and Theo secured his podium place with 5th, 6th and 9th places.

More doubles came in the U15 and U17 categories with Ivy Wightman and Jack Shingler both taking silver for the U15s and Jess Sheppard and Tom Wightman taking 3rd in the U17s. Ivy impressed getting better and better as the season went on, she finished in 6th, 3rd and then took victory in the final fixture. Jack had a consistent season finishing 2nd, 2nd and 3rd. Jess and Tom both ran well throughout the fixtures, Jess finished 6th, 3rd and 2nd and Tom was 6th, 4th and 4th.

Moving to the seniors it was gold for Jane Fairbairn in the W50 category and Heath Bampton in the M55. Both athletes achieved complete domination winning three times to achieve the lowest possible score of just 3 points. There were three silver medals – Clare Hawling in the W60 with three 3rd place finishes, Michael Ede in the M65 and Peter Digweed in the M45. Finally there were two bronzes – Petra Vymetalova in the W40 category and Jo Wilkie in the W45.

The strength in depth of the club shines through when we look at our team medals. The U11 boys impressed taking 1st and 2nd. They also produced two more teams which finished in 5th and 6th. The U13 girls and U13 boys both won gold as well and the boys B team took 4th. The U15 boys secured silvers as did the Masters women’s team. Our senior women’s team finished just outside the medals in 4th with the men’s team in 5th. The women did brilliantly to field a B team at enough fixtures to finish 8th and the men’s masters team did well to finish in 4th.
