South West Schools Championships 2025

Rachel See June 23, 2025

Congratulations to our 32 athletes who were picked to compete for Gloucestershire at the South West Schools Championships last Saturday. Of those 32 there were 12 medals – 5 Golds, 2 Silver, 5 Bronze

Aidan John lowered his 100m PB to 11.09 earning him an impressive gold medal in the IB category. Sam Wilson took gold in the SB 3000m, with the hot conditions all distance events had an extra obstacle to overcome, Sam took this in his stride winning in 8:46.47. Theo Nock was the winner of the JB javelin with a huge throw of 50.81 and Isla Pain won the SG high jump with a best clearance of 1.72.

Zephie Turbard was the only Harrier to walk away with two medals, she won a brilliant gold in the discus with 27.98 and took home bronze in the JG pole vault with 2.30. Sticking with the JG category there were two more bronze medals, one from Alicia Taylor in the 200m with a superb PB of 26.07 and the other from Rosie Atkins in the 800m with a time of 2:18.64.

Our two silvers came from Henry Longden in the JB Hammer with a PB of 34.09 and Lewis Burnett-Hockey in the SB Shot put with a best throw of 11.93.

Maddie Thomson won bronze in the IG 3000m in 10:58.24 and the final bronze came from Oliver Belbeck in the SB 110m hurdles.
