A large number of Harriers were picked to compete for Gloucestershire at the weekend’s Inter Counties Cross Country Championships in Nottingham.
Sam Wilson, who has been having a superb season already, took full advantage of the opportunity to compete against the best athletes in the country. Sam finished 5th in the U20 men’s race in just his first year in the age group. He finished just 13 seconds behind the podium. In the same race James Agombar ran well to finish well within the top 100 in 85th.
Four U13 girls were selected with Jess Bailey finishing highest in 127th. Next across the line was Matilda Lawton in 151st, Avery Church in 278th and Niamh Pettingell in 289th.
Ivy Wightman seems to be improving with every race this season and took this momentum to Nottingham with her. Ivy finished in 53rd place in the U15 girls race. Rosie Atkins also had a brilliant run coming in not far behind in 83rd. Megan Cowley, Kimberley Hodgkinson and Bella Watts finished in 118th, 152nd and 159th respectively. Jack Shingler was the first Harriers home in the U15 boys race in 172nd with Noa Seabright finishing 215th and Monty Wilkins 218th.
Jack Pennell was our first U17M home in 129th, next in was Oliver Wilson in 171st. Tom Wightman and Rhys Haines ran well to finish in 202nd and 225th. Freya Braiden took part in the U17 girls race running strongly to finish 237th. Jane Fairbairn made the top 200 in the senior women’s race in 196th and Milly Foster made the step up to senior racing for the first time finishing 269th. In the Senior mens race Harrison Miles was 245th and Finlay Willicott finished in 264th.
