Sulaiman Ouiles has smashed the club’s Decathlon record set back in 2008. Competing at the Birmingham University Track and Field Festival he scored 7259 points adding 672 to the previous record and winning the event against high quality opposition. The score ranks him 6th in the current UK rankings too!
He was consistent throughout the competition either PBing or coming very close to doing so in all 10 events. Starting with the 100m he ran a PB of 11.23, 0.01 off his previous best. In the long jump he added 3cm to his PB with a best of 6.70. He threw 11.96 in the shot put and cleared 1.95 in the high jump before ending day 1 with another PB, 51.10 in the 400m.
Day 2 opened with 14.97 in the 110mH and a discus best of 36.57. The pole vault is always one of Suli’s highest scoring events and with a clearance of 4.70 he got another 819 points, his highest points from any event. He then concluded the weekend with a javelin best of 54.48 and a PB in the 1500m of 4:43.77.
